Adopter Co-Founder, Katherine Keddie, spoke at the FinTech North Manchester Conference on a panel exploring Fintech Innovation for Greener Future.
FinTech North convened a record number of 270+ members from the northern FinTech community for a day-long conference. The event featured insightful keynote speeches from leading industry figures, engaging panel discussions with relevant experts and showcase sessions for FinTech start-ups.

What was said?
Each of the panellists broke down some of the most important terms used in green FinTech and highlighted how vague terms like ‘responsible’ and ‘sustainable’ can have varying meanings between firms. The panellists stressed the importance of tighter regulation to hold companies to a consistent standard.
Also covered was the key role of data and standardisation in order to create trust within the sector. Katherine discussed the implications of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations for finance professionals.
Katherine covered how nature and biodiversity can and are being integrated into financial markets and highlighted the necessity for this since biodiversity loss is the fourth-largest global risk over the next ten years (UNEP, 2023).
She also emphasised to the audience how nature cannot be seen as separate from finance or the economy as it is fundamentally a part of everything on the planet.
Katherine ended her address to the audience with a rallying call, stressing the importance of everyone within the FinTech ecosystem for helping the world tackle the challenges of climate change and nature loss, stating, “You are the people who can make a difference”.
